The Firm
Louise Christian was the co founder of Christian Khan (formerly Christian Fisher) in 1985. The firm was set up to specialise in Civil Liberties and Human Rights work. In November 2004, Haroon Shah was made an equity partner.
The firm has a long established reputation for undertaking important and significant test cases in many areas of law,especially human rights. Many of these cases have been high profile and widely reported. We have a reputation for representing some of the most disadvantaged people in society and for acting in political cases where individuals bring or defend proceedings against larger organisations, including the State.
The firm is proud of providing an exemplary service to every client, whether their case is privately funded, through a conditional fee agreement (subject to insurance premium), or through the legal aid system. We are willing to take on some clients for a free consultation and are willing to take on selected cases on a pro bono basis.
The firm remains committed to publicly funded work for those on a low income, having been awarded a Legal Services Commission Specialist Help Quality Mark in various categories;
Actions Against the Police
Clinical Negligence
Employment
Mental Health

As well as conducting publicly funded work in these areas we also undertake cases funded privately, as well as acting for trade unions.
